Horses recharge our spirit, remind us of our strengths and opportunities for improvement, hold challenges compassionately and give us insights that translate into immediate, practical actions we can apply to our lives. Horses mirror exactly what our body, emotions, energy and thoughts are telling us. Their non-judgmental honesty makes them especially effective messengers. In addition, the horse’s natural responsiveness to clear intention empowers us to live from the place of strength one day at a time.
Horses teach us to:
- Pay attention and live in the present where our feet are with intention, communicating with clarity and focus
- Be patient and consistent
- Set boundaries to take care of ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually
- Develop partnerships with people and animals
- Demonstrate leadership that people and animals will choose to follow, not because of demands, threats or guilt
- Develop a soft feel with flexibility and resist bracing against things that are not in our control.
- Accept that life will always be unpredictable and that, when we fall off, as we eventually will, we can get back in the saddle and try again.
Casey is a quarter horse who joined 4C in December of 2023. Casey came from Missouri and his recognized birthday is December 6, 2008.He has been in training through the winter to be our new lesson horse. 2024 will be his first year teaching horseman/women and he is excited to get to know our students.
Beckett's Creek Ferari D'LadyDi, born May 23, 2016, joined 4C in October of 2023 and spent the winter in Whitefield training since she has never had any real formal training. She has been an awesome mom for the last 4 years in Ontario and raised 2 foals. We are hoping that, as she matures, she will be able to join our lesson program. D'Lady is a 100% purebred Le' Cheval Canadien, daughter of Beckett''s Creek Calypso Ferari and Mainguy Danny-Boy Holly and was raised in Ontario.

In loving memory
L'Harmonie Baba Herki (Herki) was a 100% purebred Le' Cheval Canadien, son of Quebecois Ultrador Baba and Beau-Pres Brillant Dina, father of Beckett's Creek Herki Maximus. Herki, who was born on July 5, 1995, and laid peacefully to rest on November 20, 2023, joined our family in 2000, and had been an amazing partner with his patient demeanor and curious nature. Herki gave me wings to fly and experience the great outdoors in ways that otherwise would not be possible. Whispering Winner (Macho) was a 100% purebred Quarter Horse, son of Major Go Man and Win A Bar Deck. Macho was born on April 9, 1999, laid to rest on November 20, 2023. He was originally from Missouri but we purchased him with help from the O'Rourke family at Pond Hill Ranch. He was our primary lesson horse, steady and predictable. He was a fast learner, though you really had to explain the "why" behind every request. If he didn't see the value in the task then, he could be quite stubborn. He also read the rider well and would not push the rider out of their comfort zone. He taught me to slow down and think about the steps and how to effectively communicate them while adding value to the request. |
